Customizing the Windows 11 Right-Click Context Menu

Windows 11’s simplified right-click menu (hiding many options behind “Show more options”) was one of its most-criticized changes at launch — but it’s more configurable than it first appears.

# Restore the full, classic Windows 10-style context menu (no "Show more options" needed)
New-Item -Path "HKCU:\Software\Classes\CLSID\{86ca1aa0-34aa-4e8b-a509-50c905bae2a2}\InprocServer32" -Force
Set-ItemProperty -Path "HKCU:\Software\Classes\CLSID\{86ca1aa0-34aa-4e8b-a509-50c905bae2a2}\InprocServer32" -Name "(Default)" -Value ""

# Restart Explorer for it to take effect
Stop-Process -Name explorer -Force

Removing Third-Party Clutter Instead

The other common frustration — a right-click menu cluttered with entries from every installed app — is better solved with a dedicated context menu manager tool that lets you selectively hide specific entries, rather than reverting to the old menu entirely and losing Windows 11’s redesign altogether.
